Overview
Step into a local Egyptian kitchen and learn to cook like a Cairene. In this
immersive, hands-on experience, you’ll prepare traditional dishes like koshari,
molokhia, or mahshi under the guidance of a home cook or professional local
chef.
Whether it’s rolling vine leaves, stirring golden lentils, or frying the perfect falafel
— this is more than a cooking class. It’s a warm conversation over spice jars,
heritage recipes, and family stories. You’ll walk away not just full, but fed with
culture.
• Arrive in a cozy Cairo kitchen or rooftop cooking space • Get introduced to Egypt’s core spices and ingredients — cumin, coriander, garlic, baladi rice, tomato paste, and ghee • Discuss the history behind each dish you’ll cook
You’ll typically prepare 2–3 classic dishes such as: • Koshari – Egypt’s favorite comfort food • Molokhia – garlicky green stew with chicken or vegetarian style • Mahshi – stuffed vine leaves or zucchinis • Falafel & Baladi Bread – made fresh from scratch • Add-ons: pickled vegetables, tahini, or eggplant salads (seasonal)
• Enjoy the full meal you’ve prepared together • Served with fresh juice, tea, or sahlab (seasonal) • Includes traditional Egyptian dessert like basbousa or konafa
• Talk about food culture, seasonal traditions, and family cooking rituals • Share recipes, learn Arabic food terms, or even join in singing old kitchen songs (if your host is in the mood!)
~4.5 Hours • Morning or afternoon sessions available • Example: • 10:00 AM Pickup • 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM Cooking • 12:00 – 1:00 PM Lunch • 1:30 PM Return
